AG, We Want You Back.

Do you know what a breakup feels like?

I don’t.

But I’m starting to get an idea.

So many of us in the AGBC are “breaking up” with American Girl.

AG is trying so, so hard to make their products more “modernized”.

And I really, truly, hate it.

I do.

Here’s a list of things they are changing:

-sewn on underwear

-squishy vinyl

-selling them at Toys R Us, Kohls, etc.

-awful packaging

-new dolls that don’t even look like they’re from AG.

So, AG, you caused this breakup. And if you want us back, make your company go back to how it was. Because right now, I’m not an American Girl Fan.

In fact, I would’ve stopped loving them a long time ago, if it wasn’t for buying Brooke. I’d wanted her for so long that I just couldn’t resist, so… I bought her, and that revived my interest in AG. But now it’s dying again. I have zero motivation to play with my dolls, and I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting old or whatever, but I know that I don’t want to be a fan of them right now.

To be honest, this started when I saw the new mini dolls. They. Are. Creepy. And it hasn’t gotten better.

And if you’re thinking, “Maybe it’s for the best, maybe some people will like the changes they’re making…”

Stop.

Just stop.

And think it over.

Because, if YOU picked up an AG catalog for the very first time TODAY, and you saw all these dolls with curved hands and squishy vinyl and sewn-on undies, would you be first in line to buy one? Or would you not even be in line at all?

Exactly.

My Trip to The AG Store- 1/1/17

Hi guys! I had a great time at the AGP yesterday, and took a lot of pictures. I went with two of my friends, and the car ride was super fun (even though my dad was singing Let It Go :P)

*excuse the quality of the photos, please. As I’m sure you’ve heard from other bloggers, the lighting in the AG store isn’t very good.

This was my first time going to the AG store with my camera- so I felt a  little conscious as I walked around. I saw someone watching me take pictures, like “Wow, she still likes dolls?! Isn’t she a bit old for that?”

Yeah, I’m old, ok?

First picture of the day, in Downtown Chicago walking to the store.

Here she is, Gabriela McBride!! She is beautiful, but honestly I am mad that this is the FIRST African American GOTY and she’s not even new or original. They spent so long developing Grace Thomas’s and Lea Clark’s stories, why couldn’t they do that for Gabriela?
I’m in love with Melody’s hair.
Samantha looks like an angel ❤
My friend’s Josefina doll and the one in the store. (It took a while to get this photo because my friend’s Josie has loose limbs and I couldn’t stand her up.)
Brooke and Josie. (See what I mean? Josie looks like she’s keeling over and throwing up.)
Wow, Grace needs to eat more. It looks like Kit’s been starving her.
The Wellie Wishers are really cute! Willa’s my favorite.
Here’s a better photo of Gabby. They were doing a raffle to win a free doll! (I didn’t enter, though.)
Brooke and Brooke. (Is it just me, or does my Brooke look chubby?!)
O.o
The only reason I would buy this set is for the apples and the Uno game.
My friend and I couldn’t stop looking at this doll. She’s so pretty! ❤ I took wayyy too many photos of her.
“Who’s this weirdo?!”
#66 is also GORGEOUS. (even though she looks like she’s eating her chin in this pic.)
Sorry for that gross visual xD
LOOK AT ALL THOSE DOLLS O.o
Tacky green shirt… :3
Another picture of #44. She looks amazing in this.
Creepy doll bangs…(I told my other friend to buy them as a prank/present lol)
AHHHH IT LOOKS SO REAL ASDJFKL.
This coral skating dress is so cute.
Anyone else mesmerized by her eyes?

Leaving the store! Here’s where I noticed that me & Brooke were kind of matching. Black shirts, colorful pants (mine were army green), and brown boots. 😛

I did buy something small at the AGP! I’ve been wanting it for a really long time.

At first I was devastated because I looked for it everywhere in the store and hadn’t seen it yet. When I checked the availability for it online, it said ‘not available in this location’. I refused to give up, and found it way in the back of the store by the AG restaurant.

REVIEW: STRIPED HOODIE FOR DOLLS

AAAAAAHHHHHHHH.
IT’S SO CUTE.
The sweater is really awesome quality, and it’s lined with fleece to keep my dolls warm.
Yeah, I changed Brooke. I thought this outfit would look better with the sweater.
i didnt want that to rhyme i swear xD

(my brother came in just as I’m typing this. He grabbed Brooke and flipped her in the air. Brooke fell facedown on the bed. Sigh….)

And she fell right after I took the picture, too.
The star on the back.
The hood!
it’s all good in the hood LOLOLOL
I have to say, I’m impressed. I thought the hood would look really bad, but it looks good-great, in fact! AND, there’s no weird slit!
The sweater zips up like a real human one would. ❤
(we’re kinda matching again, haha.)

Overall, I would definitely recommend this sweater, and it’s well worth the price!

Did you go to Gabriela McBride’s debut? Did you buy anything?

Adios, mis amigas!

Fresh Breeze, Fresh Start

I KNOW I’M BAD AT TITLES, OK.
Explanation: It was really cold outside when I took these pics, and the ‘fresh start’ refers to a new year. 🙂
I recently had a sleepover with my friend, and we went outside to take some photos of her Josefina doll.

We just used our phones for the pictures, but they turned out really good!

Bloopers 😛
My friend’s little brother was helping us with this photoshoot- he was the one who put the scarf on Josie. XD

Happy New Year, everyone!!! You can visit my other blog for a new year’s post. #shamelessselfpromo

What it’s REALLY like to be an AG blogger

Hey guys! Today I want to do something different. As I was outside, taking pictures for a photoshoot, I realized how hard it is to be a blogger- that too, one for American Girl Dolls. So here’s an inside scoop on what it’s like! This is a new series on BOTH of my blogs. Yeppers peppers, you heard right! 🌶🌶🌶

On Buzz About AG AND Capturing & Creating, I will be posting things such as behind-the-scenes of how my posts are made, and how me & other bloggers make decisions for our blogs.

Without further ado, here’s some info on what the AGBC {American Girl Blogging Community} is like!

First of all, getting dolls dressed. You know how models have a whole hair and makeup team? Yeah, for us AGBs, we are the whole hair and makeup team. We have to pick an outfit, pick a hairstyle that goes with it, and make sure the outfit compliments the doll. Picking outfits is one of my favorite parts of doing a photoshoot, actually- but it’s definitely hard. Look what my room turns into:

(Saige is half-naked because I wanted Brooke to wear the pants she had on. 😛 )

Look at all those clothes and accessories, though!

So here is problems in an actual photoshoot.

I’m pretty sure this amazing, totally not-out-of-focus pic of my shoe was taken (on accident) when I was picking Brooke up. That’s right…she fell. Which leads to the next thing: AG dolls not being able to stand! Everyone likes a picture of a doll when she looks like a real human, right? Doing a cute pose, or something? Well, that’s what I tried to do. I left Brooke standing on her own for a couple milliseconds while I grabbed Praline the cat for one shot. She was perfectly sturdy. But as I ran back to set Praline next to her owner…she was gone. Horrified, I looked over the edge and sure enough, there was Brooke, lying facedown on the ground, centimeters away from a bush and fallen tree branches. “No….nonononononono!” I moaned. I quickly grabbed Brooke and flipped her to face me. A smudge of dirt smeared her nose, and her hair stood up in all sorts of directions. Water from the fresh snow had gathered on one side of her face, and her earmuffs lay off to the side, completely yanked off her head.
All the preparation that goes into getting your doll ready can be ruined in seconds. Thankfully, I was able to wipe off the dirt and fix her hair.
Doll clothes are NOTHING against Mother Nature. They don’t protect them, they just look cute. Brooke’s leggings are soaked. :/ 😛

^^see the water??

Also, I was busy trying to be a ninja while taking photos. (Don’t tell me you’ve never done this.) I am SUCH a good multitasker!  Look at what I was doing:
  • Trying not to get my boots dirty
  • Freezing because the gloves I put on provide no protection whatsoever
  • Trying extra hard not to drop or ruin the camera
  • Holding a doll and a cat
  • Walking through the snow (I like to take minimal steps, and if I ever have to walk around, I just step back on those same footprints. Yaknowhatimsayin???)

GOING OUT IN THE FREEZING COLD OR SWELTERING HEAT. All you AGBs have been there. When you look out your window and think, “Oh, {doll’s name} would look really cute sitting by that plant.” Or, “Imagine the artsy (ish) and adorable photos I can take with {doll’s name} playing in the snow!”
So yes, the pictures might be great, but what’s gone through to get them…

You might have to sweat your face off (is that possible?) while your doll refuses to stand in the prickly grass.
Or you’ll get hypothermia. JUST KIDDING! You’ll just have numb fingers. But still.
***
And if you’re wondering what I looked like when Brooke was outside looking all cute in her little outfit, you should stop. I had on my jacket, bright blue pajama pants, boots, useless gloves, and my mom’s purple hat.
Yeah.
*shudders*

Now for the last part: people seeing you take pictures. When I was out taking the pics for this AGPS, my neighbor, who was sitting in his backyard, yelled, “Are you taking pictures of me or the doll?” And for the 4th of July parade pics, which I had to take in the front yard, there were so many cars driving by. I even had to take a bunch of photos on the road, so I kept having to move my stuff (I WAS CARRYING A FAKE HORSE, DO YOU KNOW HOW CRAZY I LOOKED) back to the sidewalk. I got a lot of weird looks from strangers then. Also, during the You Belong With Me photoshoot, there’s that one scene where Taylor and the guy are sitting on the bench talking, and then the guy’s girlfriend appears. That part was also shot in my front yard & on the street.

Yep, she’s definitely crazy. People probably thought.
As I was going inside after finally finishing the parade pics, three dolls and a horse tucked under my arm, a guy on a run looked up, made eye contact with me, and then his face twisted into a confused expression. I hurried inside. That was really weird. Bleeeehhhh.

Then there’s the whole thing about uploading pictures, which takes forever. (Btw, the rest of Brooke’s photoshoot will be up soon)

Whelp, all in all, being an AGB is very fun and rewarding, but there’s a whole bunch of things that goes into it.

//All Too Well//

I walked through the door with you, the air was cold,

But something ’bout it felt like home somehow.

And I left my scarf there at your sister’s house,
And you’ve still got it in your drawer even now.

Oh, your sweet disposition and my wide-eyed gaze.
We’re singing in the car, getting lost Upstate.

Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place,
And I can picture it after all these days.

And I know it’s long gone,
And that magic’s not here no more,
And I might be okay,
But I’m not fine at all.

‘Cause there we are again on that little town street.
You almost ran the red ’cause you were looking over at me.
Wind in my hair, I was there, I remember it all too well.

Photo album on the counter, your cheeks were turning red.

You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin sized bed
And your mother’s telling stories about you on a tee ball team

And your mother’s telling stories about you on a tee ball team
You taught me ’bout your past, thinking your future was me.

And I know it’s long gone
And there was nothing else I could do
And I forget about you long enough
To forget why I needed to…

‘Cause there we are again in the middle of the night.
We’re dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there, I remember it all too well, yeah.

Well, maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much,
But maybe this thing was a masterpiece ’til you tore it all up.
Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well.

Hey, you call me up again just to break me like a promise.
So casually cruel in the name of being honest.

‘m a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
‘Cause I remember it all, all, all… too well.

Time won’t fly, it’s like I’m paralyzed by it
I’d like to be my old self again, but I’m still trying to find it

After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone

But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
‘Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me
You can’t get rid of it ’cause you remember it all too well, yeah

‘Cause there we are again, when I loved you so
Back before you lost the one real thing you’ve ever known
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well

Wind in my hair, you were there, you remember it all
Down the stairs, you were there, you remember it all
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well

Another beautiful song by the one and only… T Swizzle!

I actually had a lot of fun taking these pictures. I danced up & down the sidewalk as I took some pictures farther away from my house. (I thought a change of scenery would be nice. Next time I take my dolls somewhere, I want to go to a nice, open park by a pond. Not until absolute winter or summer, though.)
I haven’t posted in awhile. I sorta regret not making a Halloween post. :/
