The Swiftie Face-Off

faceoff-1

This is a collab with the lovely Samantha! We worked SUPER hard on this, and we hope you enjoy!

Brooke was having the most normal day a Taylor Swift fan could have.

She was rocking out to her favorite album, Red.

🎶WE ARE NEVER, EVER, EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER!🎶

Just as the song changed, she was interrupted rudely by the sound of her phone vibrating. She quickly checked her texts, and a new message from her friend Amelia was waiting for her.

Hey, what’s up?

Not much just listening to music, She responded.

Brooke quickly shut off her music, ran to the bathroom, and came back with a tube in her hand.

***

“Hey, Amelia! What’s up?”

Brooke chirped as she applied her red lipstick. As she resumed her music, she heard Amelia say:  “Not much, I’m grounded though.” In the background, she could hear Taylor’s distinctive vocal cords going up and down. (and that just may be the weirdest sentence I’ve ever typed.) “Hang on, Amelia, can you turn off your music? It’s drowning out my Taylor Swift!” Defiantly, Amelia responded, “Noooo! Then I have to listen to Grace baking to the sound of ‘Be Our Guest’, and well, baker’s gonna bake!”

“But it’s Bad Blood!”

“So? I’M listening to out of the woods!”

“Ugh, whatever. We’ll compromise. You turn yours down and I’ll do the same for mine.”

Pleased, Brooke was about to leap into conversation about their favorite singer’s new music, but before she even opened her mouth, she jumped up. “I forgot something! I’ll be right back!” Amelia waited. Seconds later, Brooke came sprinting back into the frame, carrying her guitar.

Cheerfully, she picked up her phone and glanced at her friend. “I’m SO excited that Taylor’s working on some new-” Her mouth hung open.

Amelia also had on red lipstick, and was also holding a guitar.

Brooke felt betrayed.

Desperately, she tried to say something to her friend that would make her want to go change her outfit. “You…you…look like a deranged Miranda Sings with a guitar,” she blurted.

“Shake it off, Amelia…shake it off.” Her friend muttered. Finally Amelia said, “Yeah, but you look like- Taylor Swift!” Suddenly Brooke became smug. “I know, right?

Then she called out, “Heeeeere, Honey! Come on! Good dog!”

Honey barked, and came running towards Brooke with something in his mouth. “Amelia, look, my dog has a tiny guitar! He’s a Taylor Swift fan too!”

Amelia screamed, “AHA!” Brooke clapped her hands over her ears. “Ow, that was loud. What do you mean, ‘AHA’?” Amelia rolled her eyes. “Well, Brooke, REAL T-Swizzle fans call her-well- T Swizzle! AND, real Taylor Swift fans have CATS.” Brooke’s mouth hung in an ‘O’ shape as her friend held up her kitten.

Brooke pressed ‘end’.

Brooke finished hanging up the last poster and her room and nodded with satisfaction. Then she snapped a picture, sent it to Amelia, and waited for a response.
A few minutes later, she said, That’s not your room.
Brooke’s mouth fell open. “What, now she’s calling me a liar?! I guess we really do have bad blood…SAIGE!!!! GET UP HERE! I need you to take a picture!”
Saige sashayed into her sister’s room, looking very annoyed. “Ugh, what do you want me to take a picture of? Lush is restocking their lemon-flavored bath bombs, and I HAVE TO GO BUY ONE!” Brooke rolled her eyes. “It won’t take long. Just take a photo of me standing in front of my wall.” Saige frowned. “The colors are clashy. I, personally, would NEVER wear all those colors in an outfit together.” Brooke exhaled loudly. “SAIGE.” Finally her sister gave in, and Brooke, smirking, messaged the photo to Amelia.
She high fived herself just as her friend responded with Ughhhhh .
Her victory was short-lived, though, because later, Amelia texted her a picture. Brooke picked up her phone and curiously zoomed in on the picture.

It was Amelia, holding her guitar in front of a string of Taylor Swift pictures. Brooke sighed, not even bothering to respond. “She’s so annoying.” She muttered.

The next morning, while getting ready for school, Brooke rummaged through her drawers, selectively pulling out a few t-shirts. Then, she snapped a photo, and…off it went to Amelia.

The photo showed off all of her Taylor Swift attire, including her shirts that said,
‘Loving him was blue’
‘Red’
‘1989 world tour’
‘Haters Gonna Hate’,
and sweatpants with the words Shake it off printed on the side.
Brooke laughed evilly as she waited for a steaming mad response. But instead, what she received was this:
AGGHHH
Brooke typed, furiously.
Seeing how amused her best friend seemed made her want to think of something so amazing, so over-the-top, that Amelia couldn’t possibly top it. So after school, she called Amelia, and said, “Hey Amelia, want to see some pictures of that Taylor Swift Concert I went to when you were, ah, sick? (she did air quotes when she said ‘sick’, but obviously Amelia couldn’t see them.) I wish you were there!” Amelia hung up. Soon, Brooke got a text:
What is that supposed to mean??? Brooke wondered.
And so the week continued. The next day, Amelia called Brooke saying that she uses the same shampoo that Taylor Swift does. Brooke also hung up on her.
Then Amelia sent her a text:
Do you want to keep doing this whole Swiftie battle or not?
I Almost Do….
Brooke responded.
Amelia didn’t respond, and the pair didn’t speak for another few days.
Then, as Amelia was reading, her phone buzzed, indicating a new text.

She responded, smiling.
And just like that, their Bad Blood was no more.

My Trip to The AG Store- 1/1/17

Hi guys! I had a great time at the AGP yesterday, and took a lot of pictures. I went with two of my friends, and the car ride was super fun (even though my dad was singing Let It Go :P)

*excuse the quality of the photos, please. As I’m sure you’ve heard from other bloggers, the lighting in the AG store isn’t very good.

This was my first time going to the AG store with my camera- so I felt a  little conscious as I walked around. I saw someone watching me take pictures, like “Wow, she still likes dolls?! Isn’t she a bit old for that?”

Yeah, I’m old, ok?

First picture of the day, in Downtown Chicago walking to the store.

Here she is, Gabriela McBride!! She is beautiful, but honestly I am mad that this is the FIRST African American GOTY and she’s not even new or original. They spent so long developing Grace Thomas’s and Lea Clark’s stories, why couldn’t they do that for Gabriela?
I’m in love with Melody’s hair.
Samantha looks like an angel ❤
My friend’s Josefina doll and the one in the store. (It took a while to get this photo because my friend’s Josie has loose limbs and I couldn’t stand her up.)
Brooke and Josie. (See what I mean? Josie looks like she’s keeling over and throwing up.)
Wow, Grace needs to eat more. It looks like Kit’s been starving her.
The Wellie Wishers are really cute! Willa’s my favorite.
Here’s a better photo of Gabby. They were doing a raffle to win a free doll! (I didn’t enter, though.)
Brooke and Brooke. (Is it just me, or does my Brooke look chubby?!)
O.o
The only reason I would buy this set is for the apples and the Uno game.
My friend and I couldn’t stop looking at this doll. She’s so pretty! ❤ I took wayyy too many photos of her.
“Who’s this weirdo?!”
#66 is also GORGEOUS. (even though she looks like she’s eating her chin in this pic.)
Sorry for that gross visual xD
LOOK AT ALL THOSE DOLLS O.o
Tacky green shirt… :3
Another picture of #44. She looks amazing in this.
Creepy doll bangs…(I told my other friend to buy them as a prank/present lol)
AHHHH IT LOOKS SO REAL ASDJFKL.
This coral skating dress is so cute.
Anyone else mesmerized by her eyes?

Leaving the store! Here’s where I noticed that me & Brooke were kind of matching. Black shirts, colorful pants (mine were army green), and brown boots. 😛

I did buy something small at the AGP! I’ve been wanting it for a really long time.

At first I was devastated because I looked for it everywhere in the store and hadn’t seen it yet. When I checked the availability for it online, it said ‘not available in this location’. I refused to give up, and found it way in the back of the store by the AG restaurant.

REVIEW: STRIPED HOODIE FOR DOLLS

AAAAAAHHHHHHHH.
IT’S SO CUTE.
The sweater is really awesome quality, and it’s lined with fleece to keep my dolls warm.
Yeah, I changed Brooke. I thought this outfit would look better with the sweater.
i didnt want that to rhyme i swear xD

(my brother came in just as I’m typing this. He grabbed Brooke and flipped her in the air. Brooke fell facedown on the bed. Sigh….)

And she fell right after I took the picture, too.
The star on the back.
The hood!
it’s all good in the hood LOLOLOL
I have to say, I’m impressed. I thought the hood would look really bad, but it looks good-great, in fact! AND, there’s no weird slit!
The sweater zips up like a real human one would. ❤
(we’re kinda matching again, haha.)

Overall, I would definitely recommend this sweater, and it’s well worth the price!

Did you go to Gabriela McBride’s debut? Did you buy anything?

Adios, mis amigas!

Whiskers on Kittens & Warm Woolen Mittens- an AGPS

The first snow of the season has finally arrived! Here are some pictures of Brooke braving the cold with her loyal feline friend, Praline.

🎶raindrops on roses…whiskers on kittens…bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens…🎶

I love The Sound of Music! ❤

Yes, it was snowing as I was taking these photos. And yes, Brooke fell.

Here she is after she fell. FROM A HEIGHT.

If you couldn’t tell, I’m semi-obsessed with headshots of Brooke.
Byeeee!

What it’s REALLY like to be an AG blogger

Hey guys! Today I want to do something different. As I was outside, taking pictures for a photoshoot, I realized how hard it is to be a blogger- that too, one for American Girl Dolls. So here’s an inside scoop on what it’s like! This is a new series on BOTH of my blogs. Yeppers peppers, you heard right! 🌶🌶🌶

On Buzz About AG AND Capturing & Creating, I will be posting things such as behind-the-scenes of how my posts are made, and how me & other bloggers make decisions for our blogs.

Without further ado, here’s some info on what the AGBC {American Girl Blogging Community} is like!

First of all, getting dolls dressed. You know how models have a whole hair and makeup team? Yeah, for us AGBs, we are the whole hair and makeup team. We have to pick an outfit, pick a hairstyle that goes with it, and make sure the outfit compliments the doll. Picking outfits is one of my favorite parts of doing a photoshoot, actually- but it’s definitely hard. Look what my room turns into:

(Saige is half-naked because I wanted Brooke to wear the pants she had on. 😛 )

Look at all those clothes and accessories, though!

So here is problems in an actual photoshoot.

I’m pretty sure this amazing, totally not-out-of-focus pic of my shoe was taken (on accident) when I was picking Brooke up. That’s right…she fell. Which leads to the next thing: AG dolls not being able to stand! Everyone likes a picture of a doll when she looks like a real human, right? Doing a cute pose, or something? Well, that’s what I tried to do. I left Brooke standing on her own for a couple milliseconds while I grabbed Praline the cat for one shot. She was perfectly sturdy. But as I ran back to set Praline next to her owner…she was gone. Horrified, I looked over the edge and sure enough, there was Brooke, lying facedown on the ground, centimeters away from a bush and fallen tree branches. “No….nonononononono!” I moaned. I quickly grabbed Brooke and flipped her to face me. A smudge of dirt smeared her nose, and her hair stood up in all sorts of directions. Water from the fresh snow had gathered on one side of her face, and her earmuffs lay off to the side, completely yanked off her head.
All the preparation that goes into getting your doll ready can be ruined in seconds. Thankfully, I was able to wipe off the dirt and fix her hair.
Doll clothes are NOTHING against Mother Nature. They don’t protect them, they just look cute. Brooke’s leggings are soaked. :/ 😛

^^see the water??

Also, I was busy trying to be a ninja while taking photos. (Don’t tell me you’ve never done this.) I am SUCH a good multitasker!  Look at what I was doing:
  • Trying not to get my boots dirty
  • Freezing because the gloves I put on provide no protection whatsoever
  • Trying extra hard not to drop or ruin the camera
  • Holding a doll and a cat
  • Walking through the snow (I like to take minimal steps, and if I ever have to walk around, I just step back on those same footprints. Yaknowhatimsayin???)

GOING OUT IN THE FREEZING COLD OR SWELTERING HEAT. All you AGBs have been there. When you look out your window and think, “Oh, {doll’s name} would look really cute sitting by that plant.” Or, “Imagine the artsy (ish) and adorable photos I can take with {doll’s name} playing in the snow!”
So yes, the pictures might be great, but what’s gone through to get them…

You might have to sweat your face off (is that possible?) while your doll refuses to stand in the prickly grass.
Or you’ll get hypothermia. JUST KIDDING! You’ll just have numb fingers. But still.
***
And if you’re wondering what I looked like when Brooke was outside looking all cute in her little outfit, you should stop. I had on my jacket, bright blue pajama pants, boots, useless gloves, and my mom’s purple hat.
Yeah.
*shudders*

Now for the last part: people seeing you take pictures. When I was out taking the pics for this AGPS, my neighbor, who was sitting in his backyard, yelled, “Are you taking pictures of me or the doll?” And for the 4th of July parade pics, which I had to take in the front yard, there were so many cars driving by. I even had to take a bunch of photos on the road, so I kept having to move my stuff (I WAS CARRYING A FAKE HORSE, DO YOU KNOW HOW CRAZY I LOOKED) back to the sidewalk. I got a lot of weird looks from strangers then. Also, during the You Belong With Me photoshoot, there’s that one scene where Taylor and the guy are sitting on the bench talking, and then the guy’s girlfriend appears. That part was also shot in my front yard & on the street.

Yep, she’s definitely crazy. People probably thought.
As I was going inside after finally finishing the parade pics, three dolls and a horse tucked under my arm, a guy on a run looked up, made eye contact with me, and then his face twisted into a confused expression. I hurried inside. That was really weird. Bleeeehhhh.

Then there’s the whole thing about uploading pictures, which takes forever. (Btw, the rest of Brooke’s photoshoot will be up soon)

Whelp, all in all, being an AGB is very fun and rewarding, but there’s a whole bunch of things that goes into it.

You Belong With Me

You’re on the phone with your girlfriend
She’s upset, she’s going off about something that you said
‘Cause she doesn’t get your humor like I do
I’m in the room, it’s a typical Tuesday night.
I’m listening to the kind of music she doesn’t like.

And she’ll never know your story like I do.
But she wears short skirts
I wear t-shirts

She’s cheer captain
And I’m on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you’re looking for has been here the whole time.
If you could see
That I’m the one
Who understands you.
Been here all along.
So, why can’t you see
You belong with me,
You belong with me.
Walk in the streets with you in your worn out jeans

I can’t help thinking this is how it ought to be.

Laughing on a park bench thinking to myself,
“Hey, isn’t this easy?”
And you’ve got a smile
That could light up this whole town.
I haven’t seen it in a while
Since she brought you down.
You say you’re fine, I know you better than that.
Hey, what you doing with a girl like that?

She wears high heels,
I wear sneakers.
She’s cheer captain,
And I’m on the bleachers.
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find

That what you’re looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see
That I’m the one
Who understands you,
Been here all along.
So, why can’t you see

You belong with me.
Standing by and waiting at your backdoor.

All this time how could you not know, baby?
You belong with me,
you belong with me…
Oh, I remember you driving to my house
In the middle of the night.
I’m the one who makes you laugh
When you know you’re ’bout to cry.
I know your favorite songs,And you tell me about your dreams.
Think I know where you belong,

Think I know it’s with me.

Can’t you see
That I’m the one
Who understands you?

Been here all along.
So, why can’t you see
You belong with me.
Standing by and waiting at your backdoor.
All this time how could you not know, baby?

You belong with me,
You belong with me.

You belong with me…

Have you ever thought just maybe…

 You belong with me?

You belong with me.
